Rare Grand Seiko GMT Spring Drive Watch Available For Sale

Aside from the meticulously polished case and attractive face, the features in this Campanola are useful. This version focuses on the calendar providing the month, year, date, and date of the week. Further, the calendar is perpetual, meaning it takes into consideration leap years and the different amount of days months have. Lastly, the watch has synchronized 24 hour hand built into the the seconds subdial. Citizen is able to lay out this information in a way with lovely intrigue.

Styling is conservative, but nice. This is not a "modern" timepiece, but a mere tasteful alteration on a classic theme. Red trim lines the watch, along with the Omega logo, and some of the numbers. A color often used when attempting to represent speed. The case is gold, contrasting well again the gold case and black leather strap. A steel version and metal bracelet are available and the gold versions come in rose or yellow gold. Inside is an Omega Caliber 3888 automatic movement, of course with a co-axial escapement. Power reserve is an impressive 52 hours.

The article by Robert on FratelloWatches illustrates this concept well, and attempts a few partial explanations. While the reasons are not all clear, the consumer knows about the status quo of many a watch company, and their timid relationship (or even outright aggression) when it comes to the internet and "authorized dealer" maintenance.

Being 25 and into watches does not always go together. Watches are inherently very expensive, and the cost of admittance into the hobby can be overwhelming. It is a hobby and passion of appreciation and style. You have to appreciate the beautiful, recognize the handsome, and critique the flawed. Few of us are hands on in anyway. Meaning we do not fix or modify watches, not do we really understand the inner workings for the most part.

Hamilton Below Zero Diver Watch: Art Deco Industrial Diving Instrument Design Watch Releases Omega (another Swatch Group brand) recently released its new De Ville line of watches, which are classically art deco in design. They are beautiful watches, but with the Below Zero Diver, you get to see art deco industrial in a sport watch. Hopefully we will see more of this trend coming out from under the Swatch Group's umbrella.

Skeletonized watches are popular right now, and named for the view (complete or partial) of the watch movement in the dial. Some skeletonized watches provide glimpses all the way through the watch, while others provide mere hints of the gears and mechanism which together power the watch. The reason skeletonized watches are popular is because they offer mechanical credibility. No one needs a mechanical watch, but its nice to know that your timepiece is a sophisticated piece of machinery, and there is no better way to show that than by actually showing you such machinery.

Marcello C watches were my first love in Swiss watches. I learned about them from a WatchTime Annual watch list talking about watches being sold that year. This was maybe in 2003. I was lucky enough to find a Marcello C Nettuno 3 on eBay for a very reasonable price. The Marcello C Tridente is a larger version of that watch with a deeper water resistance of 1000m. The fit and finish of this watch are impeccable, tantamount to that of a Rolex. It uses a ETA 2824-2 movement which is as reliable a a chronometer, but just has not been formally certified.

Adding insult to injury is the fact that tourbillon watches for the most part are pure novelties, adding little real function to watches. Yet this "diving" watch, has a tourbillon complication feature that really keeps you from ever diving with it. The whole point of a monopusher (one button) chronograph is to have one button in the crown, yet clearly this watch has a pusher and the crown. So the point is lost. Was there something wrong with a standard chronograph? While the watch technically does all that it is supposed to accomplish, I just ask, "why?" Who asked for a watch like this? Who are these over-funded individuals who simply want a watch that has a fancy sounding name, looks giant on your wrist, and has the same level of practicality that a convertible has on the moon?

One essential piece of information to understand is that this technology currently only applies to Breitling's Super Quartz movement, and not a mechanical movement, which require more pressure from the chronograph pusher. So while this is a wonderful technique for underwater watch operation, is does not yet apply to mechanical movement based watches. Regardless, it will certainly be well taken by a number of Breitling watch lovers along with diving enthusiasts.

I love spotting watches in movies, and there were a few of interest in Iron Man, which I saw last night. To tell you right away, the watch that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.'s character in Iron Man) wore that received the most screen time is very new, and I could not get an image of it to you show, though I will describe it. I was able to get pictures of all the watches, check them out below. The movie by the way was very well done. Perhaps not as much action as I would have liked, but Jon Favreau did a great job bringing a very different type of superhero to the big screen in a way that did not destroy the franchise. Notable elements are the attempt to make the process of building the Iron Man suit more realistic by displaying the development along with testing of the suit, and the ability of Tony Stark to publicly announce his role as Iron Man, in comparison to most heroes who keep such things secret. Another item of interest; Robert Downey Jr. wears his watches on his right wrist, while most wear it on the left wrist. This might mean that he is left handed, or has a particular preference for that wrist. You author (being left-handed), still wears his watches on his left wrist. The world does hate us lefties.

Formex 4Speed AS 6500 GMT: Race Watch For The Sky Watch Releases Formex is one of those great watch companies that makes watches you are happy exist in the world, even if you don't want one. Anyone can graciously appreciate the design of these relatively reasonably priced watches that embody a unique stylized blend of form and strength. We are glad that companies exist out there to create such wildly niche products that are sometimes over-the-top, but appreciable at least in a "that's so cool" type of way. As though a passionate watch maker decided the world needed such watches, as opposed to a committee of business people deliberating market demand and cost efficient concerns.

There are also a number of classic designs that Invicta produces that looks pretty nice. Most of them are dive watches, that contain quartz or automatic movements. Within the mechanical movements you have everything from Japanese Miyota movements, to Swiss ETA movements, depending on the price of course.

Speedmaster Professional Moon Phase Skeleton In Platinum

Outcome: Looks like a tie here. Each comes on well, but a little lacking with only seven word names. In Germany however, the Schwarzenegger watch might win as the words are each probably 26 letters long.

Schwarzenegger v. Bill Clinton: A Showdown Between Audemars Piguet Watches Of Ambitious Proportions Feature Articles
Georges-Henri Meylan, CEO of Audemars Piguet, François Henry Bennahmias,
President and CEO of Audemars Piguet North America, and President William J. Clinton during press conference on October 10th

The watch is a comfortable everyday wear, having good legibility and chronometer accuracy. While difficult to tell in the picture, the leather strap features a porthole design placing large open circles in the strap. This is mostly stylistic, but helps reduce sweat a bit. Sized at 42.5mm, the case is acceptably large, without going in to XL territory. Around the bezel lays the necessary tachometer (also spelled tachymeter; and is for a racing watch), but here it is largely decorative. While it can easily be used with the chronograph, in my opinion it is placed a bit too far from the chronograph seconds hand to be read easily; minor quibble. Aside from that, the large red arrow at the tip of the chronograph seconds hand is a delight. Adding a nice sense of color to the otherwise sober looking watch. I think you will agree that this is a purely classic racing watch. Perhaps not innovative in its interpretation of the past, but it really does not need to be. The audience this watch is aimed for will appreciate its nice lines, and historic appeal. I imagine pricing to be in the 00 range for the steel version.

Once again with the entire 2008 Vintage line from IWC, each model will be produced in steel with a limited edition run of 500 watches per watch in platinum. A serious metal, for a serious watch. I imagine that the platinum watches will fall into the hands of the most serious collectors as their increase in price is not commensurate with any increase in utility or aesthetic. The rubber strap on the Vintage Aquatimer is interesting. The cross-hatching pattern on the strap is meant to simulate the canvas straps that once held diving watches in place. Here the patten makes for a nicely done weave texturing that is pleasing and brings out the smoother details on the face.

Zenith Mega Port Royal Tourbillon Watch: Expensive Answer To Question No One Asked Watch Buying Say, why don't they have a jumbo sized square tourbillon watch with cage bars on the crystal? Oh, well Zenith does, and this odd homage to goth time-telling befuddles my sense of association. On the one hand, you have the underpinnings of a high-quality Zenith Port Royal watch. This handsome tank watch is a modern interpretation of the classic rectangular watch look. On the other hand... you have a black titanium cage.

We usually stay away from far-fetched tech concepts, because it is never a good idea to make one salivate with news of something that might never become attainable. In this instance however, it is probably safe to say that such a device is within our grasp in the next ten years max. The Nokia Eco Sensor Concept brings about the functionality that Star Trek and all science fiction fans have desperately awaited. Namely, a convergence device that functions as a watch, communication device, health monitor, and environmental senor, all in a cool-looking touch screen form factor.
