IWC Replica Watches elegance

Bremont Watches has announced a limited edition version of the MBII pilots watch for the British retailer The Watch Gallery. This new model, the MBII/TWG, sports a very handsome midnight blue case barrel (the standard MBII model offers either green, orange, or grey) and has been fitted with a sapphire display back that is similar to what is used on the new Bremont ALT1-WT World Timer.

The goal is to get young people wearing more watches and to grow up with a bit of watch culture. I suggest a two pronged approach to achieving this. One prong is product related, and the other is marketing related. Let’s talk about marketing first.

First off, surprisingly comfortable. It's thick for a dress watch, but with the stepped bezel and matching bracelet you notice less. The balance and comfort are both good, and you could reduce the weight quite a bit by wearing it with a strap instead. Secondly, the first impression you get is "instant family heirloom." The triple-date is a look first seen in the 1950's and sixties with the Valjoux 72 and similar movements, and that combined with the guilloche dial and Breguet hands is just utterly classic.

Legibility and wearing comfort are overall good with the Stirrup. While the design unorthodox, it isn't too avant garde. Most people can easily pull this look off - but it will require a lot to pull them away from the very attractive Sporting and Slim Classic models. The Stirrup for men is available in steel with black and white dials starting at ,600. This 18k rose gold model is priced at ,100, while 18k white gold models are ,200. At the top of the range is a platinum version of the Stirrup Chronograph with a white enamel dial priced at ,500. What a difference some metal makes.

On the wrist, the watch is thin and wide, and quite comfortable. The tonneau shaped case is 38mm wide and pretty tall. Having it curve a bit more might actually help it look properly sized on most wrists. On the back of the watch is an easy-to-use battery compartment. That statement should imply that the movement is quartz (in case it wasn't obvious).

As an homage to Japan and to raise some charity money, Ladoire has produced this piece unique version of their Roller Guardian Time (RGT) watch. They call it the "Origin of the Sun," and it really is one big fanboy nod from Lionel Ladoire to Japanese Culture.

This is a triple-date, also known as 'full calendar' for the inclusion of day, date and month. It's also a 12-hour chronograph and moonphase, all built on a nicely decorated ETA Valjoux 7751 movement.

A Speedy Fan Talks About The New Speedmaster X-33

The Gefica case has a tribal relic appearance unlike anything most people had seen before it was first debuted. While this Bulgari version has a modified dial, the original model (upon which this is based) had an art deco look. Who would have thought to combine tribal and art deco aesthetics? The result was masterful, and the functionality and legibility of the dial, given its novel design, are legendary. I first discussed the Gerald Genta Gefica watches here.

The most impressive new Maurice Lacriox watch this year is easily the Pontos S Diver. I think Maurice Lacriox eventually dropped the "Diver" part of the name. Who knows why - I am still going to call it the "Diver." I first discussed the Pontos S when debuting it to the world here. Now with a hands-on look at the final versions I can once again say "I like it."

Timely Game-Changers!

I didn't have much time to take highly detailed photographs of the dial - but you get the idea. It really is a neat piece of artwork thanks to engraver Michele Rothen. The dials are solid gold, and engraved by hand to replicate the Mayan iconography as well as to give the dial the appearance of aged rock. The hour indicators are blue, which are hand-applied blued steel pieces. The most special aspect of the dial in my opinion are the hands. Here you get to see some De Bethune DNA in their shape. They are also made from sapphire crystal with blued tips. This is not only an exclusive De Bethune process, but the clever hands allow you to see the dial details mostly unobscured while reading the time.
