The case is entirely ceramic, which is of course one of the haute materials being used lately. Ceramic cases always have a sheen to them, but can vary in terms of gloss. I'd guess that this Jaquet Droz is somewhere in the middle. You'll probably agree judging from the pictures. The watch comes in either black, with a matching rubber strap. You can get a similar Jaquet Droz watch in white ceramic, but that model does not have a power reserve. I'd have to say that I am reminded of Bell & Ross with their latest BRS watches. Perhaps not the design, but more the overall feeling and tone of the watches. They seem to be aimed squarely at the same market.

While not the largest segment, many photographers are ideal watch lovers. Equally obsessed with both aesthetics and technology, a photographer must have an eye for looks and the ability to work with accurate, yet delicate equipment. With all this case for camera equipment, a photographer wants to know that their watch will never be something they have to worry about, and is very legible. Being used to spend a lot on high quality cameras and lenses, most photographers understand that when it comes to machines, you often get what you pay for. The idea photographer watch is supremely reliable and legible in all conditions. Like IT people, photographer tend to focus on utility over style, but the difference is that photographers will actually rely on it more. Most photographer watches are no nonsense in looks with features that help with their everyday photographing needs. These functions tend to be a power reserve, chronograph, and large legible face. Among all their equipment, photographers know their watch will likely stay with them the longest or at the least, won't grow obsolete.
The Thomas Prescher Tourbillon watches ensure that the focal point of the designs are the tourbillon cages. This is the area where the tourbillon is located. Again, a tourbillon is a rotating escapement whose idea it is to increase the accuracy of a watch, although they are mainly for show. Because this escapement is constantly moving, they are an excellent aspect of a watch to focus on. As such, the Prescher watches feature viewing windows for the flying tourbillons contained within; with a view all the way through the watch. Thomas Prescher really went to great lengths to create a new kind of flying tourbillon. One that is held in place by a single arm. On the double tourbillon the arm spins (one per a minute), and on the triple tourbillon the arm spins and rotating (once per an hour) around the tourbillon carriage. The spinning frequencies are synced to the hour and minute of the watch time itself.
aBlogtoRead.com has seen a lot of change, and I hope that this trend continues for the better. Over the summer, I wrote aBlogtoRead.com's "300 articles published" announcement. That seemed like a big number at the time. Pretty soon I will lose count, but here is a way for you to catch up a bit. I've added a new feature on the site that some of you are bound to have missed. It is pretty cool actually. Look over on the navigation bar to the right. There is a newer section called "Random aBlogtoRead.com Article." Underneath the heading is the title, which is a link to an aBlogtoRead.com article that you might have missed. Each time you visit aBlogtoRead.com, a new random article will automatically show up in that space . It even works if you reload the site from your browser. I think it is a great way to help introduce content to you, that you'd otherwise have to go back countless pages to retrieve.
The watches are perfect for children. Not really for adults. They are much more than likely Chinese made (which are known for some good watches, and some very not good watches) with clear plastic cases, and plastic straps. Oh, and they are colorful, yes that have THAT going for them. The movements are all quartz, with a totally analog, analog and digital, and totally digital movement options. The tonneau shaped cases and those with numeral scattered faces are attempts to remind the likely buyers of watches they have probably never seen before, Franck Muller watches. One of the analog watches humorously has a plastic bezel designed off of a Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch bezel. There you are going from at least ,000 to . That was funny/cute. It really makes me think of the person staring at these watches online or in a showcase (they are at Bloomingdale's!) who might like the design, having no idea what sources such looks originated, and that Tocs is simple borrowing design accents.
The watch face is what is most important here. They literally combine the classic aviator watch look with diving watches. Though I can't really be sure where the double sided seconds hand came from. These always look cool, but they are probably just a bit distracting. The style of the numerals (especially the hours on the inside with a smaller concentric ring) is all aviator watch. The hour hand follows this arc and is also an aviator style hours hand. The minutes hand could go either way, and while it doesn't mesh perfectly with the look of the hours hand, it still looks appropriate to me. Even though there is some heavy use of text and images on the watch dial, it is still pretty legible, so that is good.

LUM-TEC is a newcomer in the watch game, but from people with experience and a real inner excitement for watches. These days it is relatively easy to throw together a watch brand, but much harder to do so with a special technology that only you possess. Equally as important, LUM-TEC is a homegrown US company hailing from Mentor Ohio. Its nice to see that watch enthusiasm in American is getting entrepreneurial again. We've been sorely needing some better affordable US options aside from Fossil, Timex, and Movado. The advent of LUM-TEC hails the advent of a new breed of more boutique, enthusiast operated watch makers in the United States, which an emphasis on interaction with their customers.
I think about the placement of this watch in the market. You don't need to make "the world's smallest tourbillon" in a man's watch, as that sort of defeats the idea of today's men's watch which are large. Franck Muller still wanted to embody its new feat in a watch, so really the only option was a woman's watch, were small size is a virtue. It will be the rare, but not non-existent woman, who will really appreciate the difficult complexity involved in creating such a small tourbillon. Really just looking at the magenta hued pink all over the dial and strap makes you think of femininity and simplicity, not stark complexity. So this watch is a bit of a contradiction, but still looks quite nice. The right wrist will wear it on special occasions and appreciate the view fo the heart shaped bridge spinning to indicate the seconds. There really isn't that much more to it. Start saving up.
